What it is

Any tangible artefact that proves something on your resume — scholar-athlete certificates, Olympiad participation, valedictorian announcements, video of you performing, screenshots of online competitions.

Why it matters

Most universities never ask for proof. But when one does, having it ready saves you a frantic scramble. Achievements without proof land softer than achievements with proof.

How to get it

  1. 1

List every award, certificate, or notable achievement from JHS3 onward.

  2. 2

For each: scan paper certificates at high resolution. Record short videos for performances or sports.

  3. 3

Organise into a single Google Drive folder with clear filenames.

  4. 4

For things without formal proof — being "best in physics" — make sure your recommendation letters mention them.

Tips & best practices

  • You don't need a certificate for every claim. A teacher confirming it in a recommendation letter has equal weight.
  • Even informal achievements count — winning an inter-house chess tournament, leading a community clean-up, viral content you created.
